Hampshire Branch BSA Owners Club

C15 project Bike:

Shortly before Christmas 2009 the Hampshire Branch took charge of a BSA C15. The widow (we shall call her Mrs K) of the previous owner had contacted us to find a home for the machine. Responding to her generous offer we procured the bike with a donation to the NSPCC. The idea now is to restore it to good running order. We subsequently aim to be able to show the renovated machine, fondly known as 'Ogel', to Mrs K and keep memories alive. The project will hopefully serve as a hands on learning opprtunity to newcomers to BSA's and an interest to members. And when a members' machine is unavailable for whatever reason there will be a BSA available for their use. As the restoration proceeds we will include details on these pages.

February - dismantling began.

February - after two hours work:

March - After weld repair of two rear mudguard lugs parts have gone off to a paintshop, who have kindly agreed to paint the bikes for little more than cost of the paint. Incidentally shade is Nutley Blue = Sapphire Blue = BMC Pageant Blue.

May - Painting is well under way. But rust pin holes in the petrol tank have been revealed. But a replacement has been found, so back on track. Now need to get stripping and inspecting the engine gearbox underway.

June - painting done & ready to collect. Hoping to trade some of the spares we have for some wheels with good chrome, perhaps at the Popham Megameet autojumble. After a suggestion by Russ, we have agreed to strip down and assess the engine unit at our camp weekend in early August (5th - 7th).
